Advanced Attack Tactics Render PCs Vulnerable to Rogue Attack

September 21, 2011 Computer Safety Tip

It is clear to see that OpenCloud Security is not simply another rogue application – this rogue uses advanced attack ploys such as blocking users’ Internet connection and denying access to application as a part of its attack on the system. OpenCloud Security, which derives from the same family of rogues as OpenClound Antivirus, Wolfram Antivirus, will use any means at its disposal to facilitate its surreptitious infiltration of the system, including using browser hijackers. Whichever tactic this rogue uses to infiltrate your PC, you should destroy OpenCloud Security upon detection.

Users will remain unaware of OpenCloud Security until it decides to start its attack against the PC. This happens by OpenCloud Security editing registry entries to allow itself to launch each time the user logs on to Windows. Soon after logging on the user will find a falsely generated system security scan initiated by OpenCloud Security which will inform the user his PC is under attack.

Shortly after this, the user will be presented with numerous fake security alerts. These notifications only form part of OpenCloud Security’s attack against the PC, and should not receive any attention. There are many different fake OpenCloud Security alerts, but here are a few of the most popular alerts to be on the lookout for:

Warning! Infection found
Unauthorized sending E-MAIL with subject “RE:” to <fake email here> was CANCELLED.

Windows Security Center
Serious security vulnerabilities were detected on this computer. Your privacy and personal data may be unsafe. Do you want to protect your PC?

As a further attack, OpenCloud Security will instigate various annoying and distressing symptoms on the system, and will blame these malfunctions on the supposed threats it detected. Users will find that they are unable to launch applications on their PC, or connect to the Internet. The following fake alert will be displayed should the user attempt to launch an executable:

Warning!
The file “taskmgr.exe” is infected. Running of application is impossible.
Please activate your antivirus software.

There is a way to disable these annoying symptoms, which will make it easier to get rid of OpenCloud Security. Enter the following activation key into the rogue:

DB038748-B4659586-4A1071AF-32E768CD-36005B1B-F4520642-3000BF2A-04FC910B

This activation key will not delete OpenCloud Security from the system. You still need to erase OpenCloud Security in order to get rid of the threat and secure your PC. Do this safely and permanently by using the removal power of a genuine security tool which will offer adequate protection against similar attacks in future.
