Below are some basic maintenance task you can do to start improving your computer’s security.
- Sign up for software update e-mail notices.
- Register your software. New software must be registered. This is another way the software manufacturer can alert you when new updates are available.
- Install software updates immediately. Upon receiving an update notice, download the update straight away and install it.
Here are a few simple steps that will keep your files safe and clean:-
- Update your software
- Backup your files
- Use antivirus software and keep it updated
- Change your passwords frequently.
Developing ongoing maintenance practices:
These tasks should be done at least once a week to secure your computer:-
- Back up your files. This simply means creating a copy of your computer files in the event the originals are lost.
- Scan your files with up-to-date antivirus software. Use your scan tool regularly to search for potential computer viruses and worms.
Change your passwords regularly.
