FavBackup: Backup settings for all your browsers using
September 17, 2009 Computer Tips And Tricks
Given all the variations of Internet Browsers out there these days, many computer users have more than just one
browser installed, complete with differing bookmarks, add-ons, etc. Whether a PC user makes use of Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, or Opera, there should be a tool one could use to backup all the browser settings, this way making it that much easier to navigate ones way through the internet and onto the World Wide Web.
FavBackup is just what the PC doctor ordered! This application is a nifty little tool that provides a simple solution for backing up and restoring browser settings for several different browsers.
One will need to install nothing, simply download FavBackup and run the executable file. A window will be displayed where one can choose what one wants to do and which browser to work with.
Currently, the FavBackup software supports the following browsers:
• Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 6
• Firefox 3.5, Firefox 3, Firefox 2
• Opera 9
• Safari 4, Safari 3
• Google Chrome 3, Google Chrome 2, Google Chrome 1
Simply select the Backup option and then choose which browser to backup.
Note: You can also choose Backup (Safe), which apparently is slower and “safer”.
Select ‘Next’ and then choose which items need to be backed up. These include bookmarks, cookies, current tabs, extensions, preferences, history, web data, and more.
Next, the user will need to choose a backup location which will be followed by the user clicking on ‘Next’
Note: A backup folder for each browser that is being backed up will need to be created.
A green check mark will be visible next to all data that was found and that will be backed up.
The final step is to select ‘Finish’ – once this is done, everything chosen to be backed up will be dumped into the folder specified.
Overall, FavBackup is very easy to use and gets the job done efficiently.
Remember, you heard it here first!
