Google’s New Features – Search Options
One change you will notice immediately is the search results which are new
“search options”.
When performing a search, you will see a link called “Show options”, which will expand to the left-hand sidebar. Here you can filter your search by type, such as only videos, only forums, or only reviews.
A time frame for viewing the results can be chosen by you. Before, you had to do this in Advanced search. Now you can filter by time period with a single click.
You also have the option of adding images to the search results, which will be pulled off the page that the link refers to, or, you can select “More text”, which will show more content of the page in the search results.
The Wonder Wheel is a new view of the search results that basically creates a visual representation of the related search terms. When clicking on a bubble, the search results will be updated automatically for the new term. It will display a group of related topics.
Lastly, the Timeline option allows you to see the search results in a chronological order. This is not ordered by the date the articles were written or when the webpage was catalogued, but instead by the dates mentioned inside of the articles.
These are great changes.
