Guidelines to a safer, more efficient computer…read on for details
March 22, 2010 Computer Safety Tip
We are always in need of quick and effective ways to safeguard our computer systems from all the millions of droves of
malware available online these days! If you are anything like me, you will have an endless anxiety about how one can null and void all dangerous tools and applications from endangering your computer system, as – let’s face it – the computer has fast become (and in particular the personal computer system) the gateway to the world – and if my passport to the world is littered and bombarded with malicious content – putting my work and private information as risk of theft – then I sure want to find a solution to this.
If you have been experiencing more trouble than usual with your computer, or should you be noticing that your computer is simply not running at its optimum, chances are your computer has been infiltrated and may be victim to a series of possible PC virus infections. Here are a few simple ways you could prevent these issues and may also boost system performance.
Firstly, you need to have an Anti-Virus application installed on your computer. Anti-Virus software is one of the more important applications that you will ever purchase. Some Anti-virus software have the ability to detect some virus’s that other’s can’t, when deciding ask around or do some research on each product.
Secondly, Disk Defragmentation is a fast and easy way to help your computer run efficiently. Every PC is equipped with a disk defragmentation program. This program moves files around on your hard drive to free up space and make your computer run faster. Everything will be the same the only thing you will notice is better system performance.
Next on the list is Spyware, this application is designed to find out what you have been looking at on the internet. Some spyware is dangerous to your computer which it could compromise your safety. To be safe you should download an anti-spyware program. Keep in mind there are a few free programs out there but to make sure you are really safe its best to test out the free ones and then buy one of your liking.
Your Internet Browser, and choosing the correct internet browser for you, is also important. There are several browsers available to you. Most computers come pre-installed with Internet Explorer. Web browsers have the ability to block pop-ups than can redirect you to unsafe sites.
The most important thing you should do is ensure that your passwords are secured. Some people like to use simple passwords, some people even use “password” as their password. You should try to make your password a combination of numbers and letters and at least eight characters long, don’t forget to remember it. If you make it easy to guess your password then it’s your fault if your account gets hacked.
Computer safety and security first- my daily motto! Word to the wise!
