How to adjust individual program volumes in Windows 7

There are many times that the computer volume and sound is controlled directly from the PC’s keyboard. Most laptops are being manufactured with a built in hotkey for volume control these days. While these controls are very convenient for adjusting the overall volume for a PC, it may be necessary at times that you would only like to adjust the volume for one specific application.

In this instance Windows 7 offers users a built in Volume Mixer application which will allow users to set the individual volume preferences for programs and applications which are active and running within Windows.

In order to access the Windows 7 Volume Mixer, click the speaker icon in the lower right side of Windows 7 task bar. After this, choose the Mixer application. Each time the Volume Mixer is accessed, you might see various apps, as the volume Mixer is completely dependent on which apps you are running at the moment.

It is possible for the user to completely mute the volume for a specific application simply by clicking the speaker icon below the app within the Volume Mixer. Or, if you are not after completely muting an individual application but instead adjust the volume for that application, simply draf the sliders to the volume level you are after.

This is all there is to it really. This is really helpful if you do a lot of multi tasking on your PC with numerous multimedia applications and programs. There are many times while running various apps at the same time that the sound from all of the applications plays at once. This can cause a lot of cluttered sound output. With this trick you can now easily mute any annoying apps that you do not want to hear sound from.
