Live Enterprise Suite: duping computer users into trusting its validity
April 8, 2010 Computer Safety Tip
Logging onto the internet this morning, scanning the usual websites for new and useful computer news, I happened to
stumble upon the latest in the malware family: Live Enterprise Suite.
Yes, this application is a rogue anti-spyware application! Not to be confused with legitimate anti-spyware programs, Live Enterprise Suite is most definitely a rogue anti-spyware application.
This rogue application hails from the same family as Ghost Antivirus and Internet Antivirus Pro. This program is promoted through the use of malware and advertisements that pretend to be online anti-malware scanners. Regardless of how Live Enterprise Suite is installed on your computer, it uses aggressive techniques to make it difficult to remove it.
Live Enterprise Suite is the latest application, claiming to be “an award winning registry cleaner and spyware remover”. This program requires manual installation from the computer user, therefore it relies on aggressive advertising tactics (on forums and via positive testimonies all across the internet community) to lure unsuspecting computer users into purchasing its trail version, thereafter the user will be continually billed for the application, and will also be billed for the full version of Live Enterprise Suite.
The first thing Live Enterprise Suite does is it disables the system’s Task Manager so that the user cannot end the processes associated with this program. It will also install a random named malware that is created in random paths under the Windows folder. This process, along with the main Live Enterprise Suite, will terminate known security executables as well as constantly terminate Explorer.exe when it restarts itself so that you cannot access the Windows desktop or access any of the programs residing on it. Live Enterprise Suite will also indicate that a TDL3 Rootkit has been found with the rogue that may make it even harder to remove.
The fact that Live Enterprise Suite does NOT deliver on its promises, places this software in the misleading software category. The misleading factors present itself in the fact that the affiliates of Live Enterprise Suite are dubious and malicious – therefore, should a user install Live Enterprise Suite onto their system, they will also be providing a gateway for alternative malicious applications to enter into their system.
Properties of Live Enterprise Suite which suggest it is malware are as follows:
- Live Enterprise Suite’s reputation online is terrible.
- The official website of Live Enterprise Suite is poorly built and lacks basic information.
- The payments website of Live Enterprise Suite is suspicious.
- Performance of the program is poor.
Live Enterprise Suite should not be trusted, as it carries with it dubious affiliates. Therefore – should a computer user have installed Live Enterprise Suite onto their system, unknowingly thinking it would be a helpful security tool – the best option would be to remove this application!
It is advisable to stop and remove all Live Enterprise Suite processes, unregister DLL files as well as all Live Enterprise Suite files in the registry.
Once Live Enterprise Suite has infiltrated a PC, it will proceed to bombard the user with these type pop-up messages, all in an attempt to coerce the user into thinking their PC is severely infected, and to ultimately get the user to purchase the full version of the rogue tool in question.
It has been shown that by just having Live Enterprise Suite running on a computer can make the computer system slower and run less efficiently. Live Enterprise Suite is particularly damaging to a computer system, once it has fully embedded itself within the PC’s system, therefore it is given a high priority security risk status by many computer analysts.
If unsure whether you have Live Enterprise Suite embed in your system, or not, you should employ the services of an up to date and fully functional antispyware application to remove Live Enterprise Suite, a legitimate one, and also ensure that your antivirus tool is fully functional as well.
