June 24, 2010 Computer News

It has recently been reported that a new spam trick is taking place. This time cybercriminals are once again trying whatever methods that they can in order to achieve their malicious desired goals. This time there is a new spam campaign which is going around that makes use of Digg, which is a social networking site in order to achieve its goals. Of course this spam message has no real association to digg at all.

The truth of the matter is that security experts from Websense Security Lab have been noticing over one hundred thousand spam messages which contain the following subject line:”Account Verification”. It really appears like the email has been sent by the Digg support team but you need to be aware of the factor that this is part of the trick.

This spam message contains a link which asks you to change your password and click on the link. This is just one malicious tactic which is being used in order to make you click the link. Once you have clicked on this link you will get navigated to various malicious websites. You will be prompted to download a file.

The file which you are prompted to download is actually a Trojan which is very harmful. There is another link which redirects users via an iframe to website which contains many exploits. These links are guaranteed to cause chaos to your computer on a big scale.

At the end of the day, do not believe every email message which you receive as the reality of the situation is that there is lots of spam going around. Remember cybercriminals are always trying to trick innocent computer users and they will happily make use of any malicious tactics that they can use. If you receive any messages which claim to be from the Digg support team then the chances are very high that you are being scammed.
