Microsoft issues first Windows 7 patches

New OS afflicted by half as many bugs this month as Vista, a third as many as XP

The world of computers happens to break news headlines again! According to ComputerWorld, Microsoft has been able to patch nine entire vulnerabilities in Windows 7 within the last week. You need to know that five of these vulnerabilities were marked as “critical”. It will require users who are upgrading to the new operating system, to have to download a certain security update in order to keep their computers secure and safe.

These patches were actually the first ones available for Windows 7.The Windows 7 patch count was actually lower than XP and Vista, so all in ,it is doing pretty well in this regard and it is a positive thing.

Windows Vista was impacted specifically by 19 out of 34 vulnerabilities.

XP was affected by the majority of vulnerabilities which were almost 24 out of 34 in totality which is fascinating to know.

So basically in this month Windows 7 only had about a half as many vulnerabilities as Vista did.

“The Windows 7 vulnerabilities are coming from its legacy code base,” said Jason Miller, the security and data team manager for patch management vendor Shavlik Technologies.

The real mystery is going to be if hackers and online criminals will discover flaws within the Windows 7 operating system and be able to exploit them. I am sure that now with Windows 7 out, malicious characters all over the globe are finding this a challenge. If one is able to find loopholes within the new operating system and it is published, they will be pretty famous amongst the hacking community. They seek recognition amongst each other and if they are able to pull this off, in the Windows 7 regard, then they will feel very special. Only time will tell in this regard, but it is going to be extremely fascinating to watch and see what will happen.
