According to recent survey conducted by Proofpoint, concerning email security trends, the following key findings
have been highlighted:
- Spear phishing?
It appears that a staggering 48% of respondents believe their organization to have been targeted by some form of phishing email scam, which was designed to compromise their PC usage. - Email encryption technology?
59% of respondents claimed that their organization has already deployed some form of email encryption solution. - Top criteria when selecting email security solutions?
Almost half of the respondents (43% to be exact) feel that ‘effectiveness and accuracy’ are the more important factors when considering which email solution to go with. 16% opted for ‘cost of solution’ as the deciding factor, whilst 6% claimed ‘vendor/brand reputation’ as their deciding factor. - Top email annoyances?
39% of respondents cited spam as their top annoyance, while 27% claimed uncaught phishing emails to be their top pet peeve.
Quite an interesting look at what email security means to most people across the board, and how better to improve email facilities within organizations.
