If your PC is slower at handling everyday errands it may be because over time, computers get cluttered with unnecessary files that need cleaning out. Outdated software or hardware can also cause your PC to slow down, but there are certain steps you can take to improve performance.
Why is your PC so slow?
Your computer is continually working with files – moving, copying and deleting – it will eventually get messy with leftover files, some of which are not needed and just take up disk space. There is only a certain amount of disk space available on your hard disk, and as it fills up the computer can begin to fight to find room to perform its tasks.
If your PC freezes up or crashes, it may be a symptom of a slow or cluttered PC.
The Processor is the brain of your computer, maybe the processor is too slow to run today’s challenging software. By running multiple programs at once, e.g. typing in Word while downloading music can also cause the processor to struggle.
RAM is the temporary memory the computer uses to do its calculations. If there is not enough RAM, your programs will run slowly.
The Graphics Card can contribute to poor performance when it comes to running media and games software. Drivers are needed by some hardware programs, which have to be kept up to date.
There may also be programs running in the background using up memory, in some cases, the problem may be a malicioius program such as a virus or spyware.
Maintenance
Slowdown can also be caused if your computer gets too hot. There may be a build up of dust which is preventing the cooling fans from doing their job. Your PC should also be positioned in a cool place with air vents not being blocked. Always turn off and unpluc your PC before cleaning it. A can of compressed air can be used to blow out the dust. Hardware components can start to wear out over time and will need replacing, usually with a newer model. Make sure after replacing or upgrading components such as RAM memory or Graphics cards, that everything is firmly in place in their slots.
How to removing of unwanted programs
It is good practice to clean your PC of unwanted programs regulary.
Click on the Start menu then Control Panel. Switch to Classic View if you are in Category view, and double-click Add or Remove Programs. If you do not use certain programs anymore, click to select them and then click the Remove button to uninstall them.
When your PC starts, Windows loads lots of programs including some you may not be aware of are running. This is necessary to that Windows and security software such as anti-virus and firewall can function properly. Some programs that are not necessary can be running in the background using up memory.
Hold the CTRL and ALT keys down and press the DELETE key once. This brings up the Windows Task manager window which allows you to see all the programs currently running on your PC. The Application tab will list programs and any folders you have open. Click to select a particular progam and then click the End Task button to stop it.
If the Taskbar has an icon on it, it is another way to stop a program running. Usually you can right click the icon and select to Quit, Disable or Shutdown.
These methods will stop the program running for now, but it might start up again when restarting your PC. To prevent this, you mau need to remove it from the list of programs Windows is instructed to run on startup.
Click on your Start menu, then on Programs. From your Programs List, hold your mouse over Startup to the the programs currently set to start when Windows does. Right -click on any program and click Delete to remove them from startup.

very good, thankss
There are a lot of people who do not pay any attention to RAM when they buy their laptops. They may be ignorant or perhaps plain negligent on this. But when the laptop works slowly or perhaps conks off in the middle of important tasks, they wonder as to what happened suddenly.
