Twins Sue Facebook For 65 Million Dollars
When one person sues Facebook it is trouble but when two people sue Facebook it is double trouble. It has been claimed that two twins are now millionaires after suing the founder of
Facebook for stealing their ideas. It is allegedly been claimed that these two twins, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are now sixty five million dollars richer. They both row for Oxford in the big rowing races and after their victory with Facebook have also rowed in millions of dollars which will make them set for life. This is just one of the many success stories of people taking legal action against the popular social networking site.
They developed the idea for a social networking site while they were studying at Harvard University. They fought a long and tiring legal battle against the founder of Faceboook, Mark Zuckerberg. They claimed that he stole as well as copied their ideas. Eventually it all got settled in an out of court settlement at a rumored sixty five million dollars.
The two brothers were also training in order to represent the US in Beijing, and they actually got as far as reaching the Olympic pairs final. Some might say that they had guts to take on the biggest social networking site in the world. If Zuckerberg stole their ideas or not can be a debate that may carry on amongst computer users for years to come. The factor that they actually obtained so much money out of the case may be evidential prove that Facebook was in fact in the wrong.
Tyler Winklevoss claimed:”The experience of the law suit and the Olympics helped as it was the first time we had climbed that sort of mountain,” said Tyler. “Often people are afraid to be good at more than one thing. I’m not a man who likes to define his identity too narrowly.”
This case may be seen as the beginning of many lawsuits which may be targeted against Facebook. Everyone knows that the Facebook founder is rolling in money due to the increase of Facebook users over the last couple of years. The twin brothers are not the only people who are trying to go against Facebook. There are many cybercriminals who are taking advantage of Facebook in order to commit cybercrime and obtain large sums of money. Only time shall reveal what will happen with regard to Facebook facing more legal matters.
