Windows 7 – How to remove the Scrollbar from Start menu
If you are using Windows 7 as your operating system, you will probably have realized by now that unlike previous
version of Windows, ranging from Windows 95 to Windows Vista, Microsoft has made changes to the Start Menu, making it more static.
Once you, the user clicks on >All Programs<, the part of the Start Menu that displays all of the program shortcuts remains the same size as the size of the Start Menu when first clicked.
For those users that have more program or folder shortcuts than the current size of the Start Menu can hold, there is the ability to make use of a scrollbar or the scroll wheel on the mouse to access some of the shortcuts.
Short of making Windows 7 Start Menu function like Windows XP does, there is one more option to help the user access program shortcuts faster and more efficiently – by removing the scrollbar.
In order to remove the Scrollbar from the Windows 7 Start Menu follow the steps below:
- To pin a shortcut to the Start Menu, begin by clicking on >Start>, select >All Programs< and locate a program used often. Example: Windows calculator
- Click on >Accessories< and right click on >Calculator< then select >Pin To Start Menu< from the menu that pops up.
When the user clicks on the Start Menu now, there is a shortcut to the calculator right on the Start Menu.
Follow these steps for the various programs you would like pinned to the Start Menu.
Although not an elegant solution to the problem of having a scrollbar >All Programs< menu, it does remove the need for a scrollbar to be there in the first place.
