Windows 7 Release Candidate and its new feature!

June 18, 2009 Windows 7 Tips

Windows 7 is only reaping positive feedback pending its release later this windows_seven_____7__by_youness_toulouseyear.

The latest release however, from the Windows 7 family is its Release Candidate. The term Release Candidate (RC) refers to a version with potential to be a final product, ready to release unless fatal bugs emerge. In this stage of product stabilization (read QA cycle), all product features have been designed, coded and tested through one or more Beta cycles with no known showstopper-class bug.

The installation process of this application is far less difficult than Windows XP and Windows Vista, the only choice that needs to be made is whether to upgrade ir to install a new Windows 7 system.

The next step in the installation process is to decide which partition you want it to be installed to – then presto – you are well on the way to a successful installation. The whole process should take no longer than an hour.

The taskbar feature that comes equip with Windows 7 RC has a few useful modifications, which one can now use to pin a program to the taskbar by simply dragging the program icon to the taskbar. When the program is running the taskbar will emboss that particular program’s icon, thus showing which program is in use at any given time – cool hey? Its great as a short-cut tool, as now users will no longer need to go to the Start button in order to open up a program within the system… rather nifty if you ask me.

Another cool thing about Windows 7 RC is that when the user hovers over an active (embossed icon) program icon, a thumbnail of all windows used by that particular program will be displayed – this gives the user an immediate preview to what is loaded on said active program.

Windows 7 RC also makes use of a ‘Jump list’. This is a list that appears once a user right clicks on an item in the taskbar. Context sensitive shortcuts will appear – and it is this list of short=cuts that constitutes the ‘Jump list’. All jump Lists are different for the varying programs, for example, a Media Player jump list will display a lsit of all the frequently opened media files, etc.

It is just as easy to remove a program from the taskbar, all one needs to do is right click on the desired program, and select ‘unpin’ – thus removing the program from the taskbar altogether. As easy as pie!

All in all – one can assume that Windows 7 has a lot of cool features – taking us well into the technology era – and beyond!
