March 15, 2010 Computer Safety Tip
World of Warcraft is one of the most popular multi player role playing games that there are. Some players are actually
spending more time in the fantasy world as opposed to the real world. Many World of Warcraft players have claimed that they have actually gotten extremely addicted to playing World of Warcraft. Since the release of World of Warcraft the numbers of players have escalated to huge amounts. Some people even claim that they prefer the World of Warcraft to the World of real life.
Unfortunately according to the latest news reports it has been discovered that none other than World of warcraft is currently under a malicious Trojan attack, which poses as a big security risk for all World of Warcraft players across the globe. Unfortunately this Trojan is so strong and powerful that it is actually able to breach the Blizzard Authenticator system. This Trojan is a key logger and this means that it runs the risk of gaining access into player’s accounts, as well as being able to view all their personal information as well as their passwords.
Basically this key logger Trojan is able to allow a hacker to gain access to a users account simply by intercepting the specific authentication code which is generated by the Blizzard authenticator itself. This Trojan is extremely malicious due to the factor that it is able to steal the valid code pertaining to user who is attempting to log in. It also is able to supply a false code to the blizzard authenticator which results in the failure of the log in attempt.
The fundamental problem with this sophisticated and highly dangerous key logger Trojan is that when a registered World of Warcraft user attempts to log in to his account, through the use of the authenticator, the malicious hacker is actually able to gain direct access into a hacker user’s account. As you can imagine once a hacker has gained access, the user is at jeopardy of becoming the next victim of a major cybercrime or alternatively of identity theft.
This particular key logger Trojan is presenting all Windows user who play World of Warcraft with big security risks. It has been stated by various computer experts that one of the solutions may be to locate a file which goes by the name of: emcor.dll in C: Users (Your user name) AppDataTemp. The other logical alternative may be to update your antivirus and security software. It may be within your best interest to also invest in a decent antispyware removal tool which will prove effective in both detecting and deleting the latest Trojans such as this particular malicious Trojan key logger.
